Heard in Fredriksfors Dec 10 - 14 -"Best" from Brazil

On December 10th. I realized early that it was wrong to have the 255-degrees antenna connected. Apart from some too weak ones from Brazil, it was Dos Mil 1500 that was on at 00. Fragments of the national anthem on 1130 at 03, a little mumbling on 1230 and 1270 were what reminded me of La Plata. Some weak probably Colombians, Harbour Light 1400 – and then actually a decent ID from HIAK on 1440...

On 11th. Harbour Light was alone for a long time. Judging by the splitters, quite a few La Plata stations at 03 but too weak. Ñandutí 1020 was an exception with a readable signal. Also Caribbean Lighthouse the night before fire number two in the transmitter. At 04 Paraguay 920 and R Nacional Brasilia 980, then far too noisy.

12th. good against Brazil especially 23 – 00. Some La Plata stations also came, but also with worse strength and gradually fewer stations. Hardly anything at all after 03.

13th. and still "the best" signals from Brazil but also still some Spanish-speaking southerners. However, the signals came one or two hours later than the day before. 04 was mostly gone, but then suddenly CBI went on 1140. Then there was no more audible signals, except for Colombians on 1560 and 1580 at 07.

14th. it sounded quite promising with Brazil, but also Paraguay (920, 970), "both" Argentina on 1270 etc already at 23. But it never really took off. At 03, Peru surprised (despite the fact that I was running 255 degrees) with good ID on 1220 (Melodia), but also 1180, 1360, 1500, 1570.. At 06, conditions had become even trickier – WWKB 1520 and KXEL 1540 were distorted, Colombia on 1580, 1589 and Bolivia 1560.

Heard in Fredriksfors Dec 5 - 9 - Better but far from good

December 5th, offered a small "glimps" at 01 when I actually managed to get Chile on 1140 and 1180 and there was also someone from Argentina. A little earlier some from Brazil. The rest of the night was very thin, however.

6th, Brazil, but also some signals from Paraguay already at 23 (5th.) and significantly better than in a long time on the band. La Plata and Brazil then mixed in after 02 when the signals started to get weaker. The rest of the night was mostly carriers, very few who could make it through the noise with sound.

7th. Signals mostly from Brazil, but also some from mainly Argentina and Paraguay until 02. Then the signal strengths dropped and more and more from Colombia and someone from Puerto Rico were added. But already after 03 it was almost the end of audible signals from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

8th. Fewer from Brazil but otherwise about the same as the night before, possibly some signals "held out" for a couple more hours. However, most signals were far too weak and by dawn there was nothing left.

9th. and quite unbelievably miserable! Not even Harbour Light was really audible for all night. Not a single signal strong enough for me to even guess what it was. Judging by the carriers, it might have been a little better if I had used 285 degrees instead of 255, but it probably wouldn't have helped much...

1140 5.12 0100 CB114 R Nacional de Chile, Santiago ack så svag och är ju vanlig, men en ”framgång” att något hörs överhuvudtaget. Av splitten att döma var det R Central, Ypané som störde bitvis (1140,125) JE

1180 5.12 0100 CB118 R Portales, Santiago tittade fram några minuter då och då. JE

1270 5.12 0100 LRA20 R Nacional, Las Lomitas var det som gick vid ett klent id, inte Provincia JE

1300 8.12 0101 ZP10 R Fé y Alegria, Nueva Asunción bärvågen brukar ”alltid” finnas, men nu var det ljud på den också (1299,961) JE

1370 8.12 0400 CW137 R Regional, San Javier svag men så pass ensam att den gick ok ändå (1349,849) JR

1550 6.12 0100 LT23 R San Genero, San Genero Norte – en av säsongens ”dominanter” som nu åter kom fram och visade att det kanske börjar finnas hopp för konditionerna. JE

Heard in Fredriksfors Nov 30 - Dec 4 - and still there is "nothing"

November 30th.. Caribbean Lighthouse 1160, WEGA 1350, Harbour Light 1400 were the only stations that could be received at all during the night!

December 1st. and still woefully bad. The "peak" came at 00 UTC with PR 1070, 1210, 1280, 1480, 1490, Colombia 1250, 1580, and Venezuela 1450 could also be seen briefly.

2nd. and another “useless” night. 1280 Noti Uno at 00, 1580 Uniminuto 02, NA 1520 and 1540 (WKBK and KXEL?) after 05 could be sensed...

3rd. a couple more of the most common Puerto Ricans went (870, 1120, 1160), even the Peruvian Santa Rosa 1500 albeit poorly at 00 UTC. “Something Spanish-speaking” on 1200 at 01. Fifth night in a row with 285 degrees connected without anything interesting being heard, however it is noticeable that we are approaching Christmas with more and more interference coming from the “Christmas decorations” in Delsbo.

4th.. If there are degrees to compare “lousy” with, it was possibly a little better this night, despite the fact that the endless series of interferences has gained new momentum. A change of antenna to 255 degrees might have helped. Especially some from Brazil, but also a lot of La Plata stations, but most of them so weak that it would have been useless to even try to find the ID. After 03, however, there was nothing left.

Heard in Fredriksfors Nov 25 - 29 - almost nothing

November 25th. was close to the “absolute bottom”: A Spanish-speaking woman with no ID was persistently talking on 1480 at 00. Radio Buenos Aires with national anthem 1350 and Harbour Light 1400 03, and at 06 WEGA 1350, Harbour Light 1400, possibly Monumental 1510 and WKBK(!) 1520 07 UTC.

26th. nothing recorded.

27/11 there was quite a lot of signals, especially from Argentina and Uruguay, from just before 00 to a little after 01 UTC on the upper part of the band. However, most of them were too weak for ID. Then there were mainly a few stations from Brazil that came through audibly for a couple of hours. Hardly anything that lasted until morning.

28th. there were about the same stations as the night before, but even slightly weaker signals. At 07, however, it had partly swung and the best (only) signals were instead the Peruvian Santa Rosa 1500 and the Ecuadorian Monumental 1510.

29th. I had gone from 255 to 285 degrees. But that didn't help. A small opening at 02 with Puerto Rico and Colombia but nothing of major interest. Caribbean Radio Lighthouse 1160, which suffered a fire in a capacitor in the transmitter less than a week ago. and since then apparently runs irregularly and with reduced power, went great in parts this night.

Hello DX-friends. 

My name is Peter Stillberg (PSG), member of Delsbo Radioklubb, Arctic Radio Club (ARC) and The Swedish DX Federation (Sveriges DX-förbund, SDXF). I'm also one of the DX:ers using Fredriksfors as my listening shack together with Jan Edh (JE), Dan Andersson (DAD) and Ronny Forslund (RFK) as active DX:ers.
