ARC Newsflash: Radio Free Libya

Just now after 1700 UTC Benghazi-transmitter on 675 kHz and El Beida on 1125 kHz seems to ID as Radio Free Libya according to translation by Tarek Zeidan . The 1449 kHz transmitter is very well heard in Växjö, but not announcing. Arabic music and songs after Mr. Ghaddafi’s strange speech.

ARC Newsflash: Absolute Radio to leave MW?

U K The UK pop & rock station Absolute Radio is reported to be considering switching off its network of mediumwave transmitters on 1215 kHz + low power relays on 1197, 1233, 1242 and 1260 kHz. Soon the station will hear what a new licence for the use of those channels will cost, but according to Media Week Absolute Radio is thinking seriously stopping its AM broadcasts. ARC Newsflash: Changed final day for Radio Sweden

SWEDEN Radio Sweden International will pay attention to the final transmissions during the Russian and English services only on Saturday, October 30th, 2010. It is the final day of broadcasting on 1179 kHz from Sölvesborg.

On their webpage they have changed the final day from the 31st to the 30th, Saturday evening/night.
There will also be a funeral feast at Hörby transmitter centre after midnight local time on Saturday night. (Bengt Ericson. ARC, Växjö)

Loggings from the Radio Shack, Fredriksfors August 8-9

After quite a while of ”non activity” when my (very) few visits to Freriksfors had given nothing was it of course without much hope I went out on August 8th. When ”on the spot” there was not much to give hope either. Religious WTWW shifted frequency from the 31mb to ”49”. New to me, but ”Scriptures of America” turned out not to be my favourite program..
Not even the Brazilian 60 mb stations were heard with a decent signal. However, both Radio Pio XII and Radio Bethel in the 49 mb were ok.
At 01.30 some common La Plata (950,1070, 1190) but they weakened well before dawn. The same with a few Brazilians (Globo 1220 best).
Around 02.30, however, some Peruvian stations came through making the night worth noticing. But only for a few minutes and quite weak. When I changed frequencies to a little lower part of the band, they were all gone already.

1602 8.8 21.01 Twoje Radio här också. Lite mer stört än 1584. Låg något efter i spellistan och gökuret (som visade att det var åtminstone två stationer här) kom ungefär 2 minuter senare. JE

 1440 9.8 0227  Radio Santa Monica, Arequipa. Satt hårt åt med id. Ett par filer med mycket prat som HK hjälpte mig analysera innehöll inget id. Men TBV lyssnade samtidigt som jag och med hans hjälp lyckades jag till slut lokalisera ett id insprängt i musiken. Låg rejält snett (1440,251). Som jag läser IQ:ns bärvågor fanns det också en signal 2 Hz högre och som tog över korta stunder. Möjligen västlig brasse eller annan andinsk station? JE

1500 9.8 0230 Radio Santa Rosa, Lima. Religiöst men flera ”Santa Rosa”. Starkast av de jag hörde.. Låg på 1499,846. JE
1540 9.8 0228 Radio Corporación, Cierro del Pasquo. Reklam för något som var ”muy aromatico”. Ligger på 1540, 153. JE

"TRT will prepare special Ramadan Programme. The following stations have been on the air 24 hours a day during Ramadan Period.

Three stations have been on the air between 06.00-15.00 UTC in normal times. Mauno Ritola in Finland reports that the transmitter of Radio Hami is located at Topeno in the municipality of Loppi, a few kms west of Riihimäki (Tavastehus). (via Bengt Ericsson, ARC, Växjö)

ARC Newsflash: Radio Hami on the air

Radio Hami at Räyskälä (west of Lahti) in Finland (RSL) is on the air on 1584 and 6170 kHz between 0500-2100 UTC with programming, but the rest of the time with non-stop music. Heard on July 15th at 1500 UTC on 6170 kHz and at 2205 UTC on 1584 kHz. Quite good strength on shortwave, but on mediumwave QRM from Twoje Radio AM, Slupsk in Poland. All Finnish, but a few IDs in English. Radio Hami is very often mentioned in the DJ-programs. The transmissions will end on July 18th. (Bengt Ericson, Växjö, ARC.)
