ARC Newsflash: AFN Frankfurt, Radio Waddenzee, Kol Israel 1206

GERMANY 873 AFN Weisskirchen (Frankfurt) seems to have reduced power on June 1st. A very weak AFN-signal was heard at 1830. The frequency was dominated by Radio Rossii and Bulgaria.

THE NETHERLANDS 1602 Radio Waddenzee and Radio Seagull are now broadcasting from offshore. The ship Jenni Baynton has sailed 8 km from Harlingen and is anchored near the island of Terschelling. Reception in Växjö is very good around 1800.

ISRAEL 1206 Kol Israel, Acre now with 10 kW has changed to Reshet Bet (program B) with news and current affairs in Hebrew. Good reception at 2000 news. (Bengt Ericson, ARC, Växjö)

ARC Newsflash: Radio Free Libya

Just now after 1700 UTC Benghazi-transmitter on 675 kHz and El Beida on 1125 kHz seems to ID as Radio Free Libya according to translation by Tarek Zeidan . The 1449 kHz transmitter is very well heard in Växjö, but not announcing. Arabic music and songs after Mr. Ghaddafi’s strange speech.

ARC Newsflash: Magyar Katolikus Radio closing down

Hungary

Magyar Katolikus Radio 1341 kHz is closing down . They are not permitted to transmit from January 16th,2011 as their licence has not been renewed by the governement. Acc to MKR webpage they will also close the 810-transmitter. (Info from Tibor Szilagyi via Bengt Ericson, ARC)
UPDATE:Magyar Katolikus Radio closed their transmissions on 1341 and 810 kHz at 23:01 UTC on Saturday 15,1.2011. The last 4 minutes was information about the new possibiliies to hear MKR via satellite and Internet. (Bengt Ericson, ARC, Växjö)

1700 XEPE San Diego - It has been rumoured that XEPE 1700 AM will change it's current talk format
("The Talk of San Diego") to all-sports (=ESPN). In fact on Radiotime.com pages it's already called

ARC Newsflash: WRN transmissions from Sri Lanka delayed

The new WRN transmission from Sri Lanka on 1125 kHz with 50 kW is delayed due to technical problems. Technicians are working on curing the problem with RF induced on the 1125 twin masts. ARC Newsflash: Radio 10 Gold, Holland reactivated

Radio 10 Gold has now reactivated the transmitter in Heinenoord, Holland on the frequency of 828 kHz. Very good signal in Växjö,Sweden. Sometimes QRM from the German station on the same frequency. Power said to be 20 kW during day and 5 during night. (Bengt Ericson, ARC, Växjö)

"TRT will prepare special Ramadan Programme. The following stations have been on the air 24 hours a day during Ramadan Period.

Three stations have been on the air between 06.00-15.00 UTC in normal times. The following stations have been running test transmissions between 29.07.2010-10.08.2010 before the beginning of Ramadan month. ARC Newsflash: Ukranian AM transmitters reactivated

Natsionalna Radiokompania Ukrainy has restarted some transmitters that have been silent for some months. Monitoring shows that the following stations are on the air:

657 RUI/UR3, 675 UR1, 936 UR1, 972 UR1, 1377 UR1, 1431 UR3 and 1584 UR1.

ARC Newsflash: Pirate radio ship to anchor off Fiji?

WELLINGTON [NZ] - In the past few days, Usaia Waqatairewa of the Australian based Fiji Democracy & Freedom Movement has floated the idea of broadcasting uncensored news and music programs to Fijian
radio listeners from a 'pirate radio' ship anchored in international waters near Fiji.

Waqatairewa claims his organization has been in contact with News Limited which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the global media billionaire and which also owns the Fiji Times newspaper which is now for sale to

ARC Newsflash: Radio Beograd relay and Berlin DRM transmitter off air

1602 kHz Radio Beograd 1 had a relay at Sjenica with power of 1 kW. This transmitter seems to have stopped. It hasn’t been heard for 2 weeks.

1485 kHz DRM transmissions from Oldiestar in Berlin has been off since Sunday June 13th and several stations are now fighting. Most interesting is the new Twoje Radio AM at Walcz in Poland with the power of 800 watts. Heard in competition with AFN in Germany and Radio Merkurs in Riga, Latvia after 1900 UTC.

ARC Newsflash: Studio X, Italy off the air

1584 kHz Studio X in Italy is off since beginning of May. They have problems with the MW transmitter according to Dario Monferini in Italy. Now there is a chance to hear Radio Verona in Verona, Italy after 2200 UTC when RAI at Terni signs off. The station is commercial and during the evening a lot of ads are broadcast between the records. Power 1 kW. During nighttime 2300 – 0430 UTC Monday to Saturday and on Sundays 2200 - 0430 they are broadcasting non-stop music with IDs. Radio Verona is recently been heard by Robic Patrick in Austria. ARC Newsflash: News from Germany and Russia

711 Südwest Rundfunk with the program SWR cont.ra service has started DRM transmission from Obereisesheim, near Heilbronn, The station is well received in Växjö after sunset, but if the loop is directed southeast the signal is almost nil. Then Romania is strong.

RUSSIA
1287 Yu-FM in Yazykovo, European Russia has left the frequency during the last 3 days. According to WRTH-update Yu-FM has probably left the MW. (via Victor Rutkovsky, Russia)
